FarmUnits is a UK marketplace where farmers and rural landowners advertise spare buildings and yards directly to local businesses. It is free for owners to list during our launch, and always free for people looking for space.
Why FarmUnits exists
Across the UK, farms have buildings that no longer suit modern farming, while local trades, makers and small businesses struggle to find affordable space with room for vans, machinery or stock. These two groups are often only a few miles apart, but they rarely find each other.
Small farm spaces are hard to advertise. The main property portals usually work through agents, whose fees can be out of proportion to a modest rent. So owners rely on word of mouth or a post in a local group, and businesses search across several places and still miss what's nearby.
FarmUnits gives these spaces a proper home: a dedicated page for each unit, with the practical details people need, and a direct conversation between owner and tenant.
What we believe
- Direct is better. Owners and tenants speak to each other, arrange viewings and agree terms themselves. We don't take a cut of the rent.
- Honest details save everyone time. We encourage clear photographs, accurate measurements and upfront costs, and we review adverts before they appear.
- Privacy matters. Farm postcodes are used for distance searches but are not shown publicly.
- Useful information should be free. Our guides explain planning, rates, leases, preparation and pricing in plain English, with links to official sources.
What we do and don't do
FarmUnits provides listings, search, alerts and enquiries. We don't inspect properties, act as a letting agent, collect rent or give legal or tax advice. Our guides are general information, and we recommend professional advice for specific situations.
We're at the beginning
We're welcoming our first farmers and units. If you have space, list it free. If you're looking for space and there's nothing near you yet, save an alert and we'll tell you when something suitable appears.
